Tamara Kordzadze

Critics have praised Tamara’s „effortless technique“, „fetching temperament“ and unusual ability to communicate in a unique way with her audience.“

 

The Georgian pianist Tamara Kordzadze was introduced to the piano at an early age by her mother Natalia Sikharulidze, and her extraordinary talent was recognized when she was still very young. Since the age of six, she has been giving annual concerts both as a recitalist, and as a soloist with different orchestras, in such halls as Carnegie Hall and Tonhalle Zurich, and in many countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, the Netherlands, the USA, Russia and Georgia. Currently she lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland.

 

Tamara has won prizes at numerous national and international piano competitions, including 1st prize at the “Greek International Piano Competition”, 1st medal at the “Porto International Piano Competition”, and 1st prize at the “Landolt Competition” in Switzerland. She was also distinguished as “The Best Performer of a Classical Sonata” in Greece, “The Best Performer of a Debussy Prelude” in Portugal, and she was awarded “The Special Critics Prize” in Italy. Moreover, she has received several prestigious scholarships, such as an Honorary Prize awarded annually to talented young Georgians by the President of Georgia, Eduard Shevardnadze, and scholarships from the Georgian Ministry of Culture, the Stanislav Neuhaus Foundation, and the charity program “New Names” in Moscow. 

 

After her studies in Tbilisi, Georgia, with Prof. Dodo Tsintsadze, and Prof. Manana Doidjashvili, she received a full scholarship from the “Lyra Foundation” to continue her studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, in the class of Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov, where she received her soloist diploma. 

 

During this period she completed her education as a pianist with master classes given by Dimitri Bashkirov, Eliso Virsaladze, Paul Badura-Skoda, Rudolf Buchbinder, and Vladimir Kreinev.

 

Her repertoire of piano solo music, piano concertos, and chamber music, includes a considerable number of masterpieces from the early Baroque to the 20th century.

 

Apart from her activities as a solo pianist, Tamara is also founder and president of “Vivace” – an association to promote and support musically talented children and adults in Georgia. She has long been organizing concerts for talented Georgians in Europe, sending them to International master classes and festivals, helping them with scholarships, and promoting and doing management for them, helping them get instruments, and purchasing goods for music schools, among many other tasks.

 

Tamara Kordzadze is also co-founder, board member, and head of International Relationships of the association “Youth Classics”, which aims to support and challenge young artists from all over the world.

 

In addition, Tamara Kordzadze passes along to others her diversified experiences as a piano soloist and chamber music concert master, through her teaching in a variety of master classes, including the “Youth Classics International Music Festival and Master classes“ (Germany and Switzerland), and “International Music Week Montepulciano“ (Italy).  She is also a jury member at several international competitions, including the “International Piano Competition NICE CÔTE D’AZUR”
